1,200 people have been arrested inknife blitz, but.....?

It says they've been arrested but what I want to know is what they do after they arrest them...I mean they could have released them straight away for all we know, but they can still truthfully release statistics saying they have arrested all those people...The articles about crime stats such as that one conveniently omit the details
