Which book should i read first ?

i like the first one better.i think foster care for some children is an awful life,but i have fostered several kids in the past and look forward to more.not all are bad homes.i loved them all as my own.i still keep in contact with them all.i hope the best for all the kids in this situation and hope to make a difference in their lives.the second book doesn't really appeal to me like it would a teenager.
