Why did the LSU coach think he didn't have enough time to bring his field goal unit out?

That's what the coach said in the post-game interview. How is that possible? Wouldn't the field goal unit be ready? Also, I thought they had one more time out left. One more thing, since they felt they didn't have enough time to bring their field goal unit out, why didn't they at least go for the TD rather than spike it? I'm really confused.
